Natura Perú offsets its carbon footprint with BAM

As part of its Carbon Neutral Program, which was launched in 2007, Natura Cosméticos offset more 34 thousand tons of carbon dioxide emissions by acquiring carbon credits generated by the reforestation project in Campo Verde, Ucayali, which is developed by Bosques Amazónicos BAM.

“Since its creation, Natura has been committed to sustainable development and to environmental protection. We are the second most sustainable company in the world according to the Global 100 report of Corporate Knights, a study based on indicators rather than perceptions.  The support we provide to a reforestation project such as BAM gives us great satisfaction and shows our commitment to protecting the environment and the country,” said Hans Werner, general manager of Natura Peru.

Natura Cosméticos, a carbon neutral company, launched a series of efforts in 2007 to measure, reduce and offset the greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) generated by its operations, beginning with the extraction of raw materials to final disposal. After an exhaustive selections process, the company selected the Campo Verde Project at BAM to reduce and offset the greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) generated by its operations.

“I am grateful to Natura Cosméticos for the trust it has placed in us. This is recognition of the seriousness of our efforts to develop a business model that is environmentally and socially responsible while helping drive the brand’s quest to achieve international prestige while expanding its global scope,” said Jorge Cantuarias, general manager of BAM.
