220 thousand new shihuahuaco and marupa trees were planted on 305 hectares: reforestation campaign 2019 at Bosques Amazónicos BAM

6

In 2019, we planted 220 thousand new shihuahuaco and marupa trees on 305 hectares. Currently, our commercial area covers 1000 hectares.

This reforestation effort focused on developing seedlings with optimum characteristics by increasing the number of areas from which our species originate to strengthen BAM’s forest genetics program.

All of the stages of the planting process for BAM’s new plantation –soil study, seedling development, soil preparation, fertilization and planting– as well as adequate maintenance of the existing plantation, were conducted by local workers from the communities near BAM’s property and from the city of Pucallpa. 20% of these jobs are held by women.
